We will be on a modified or activity schedule. Students will report to the football field (home side) at apx. 12:00 and sit by grade level. The Homecoming Court will be introduced, then we will have our annual tug-of-war competition (9 vs 10, 11 vs 12, winners play) (6 vs 7, winners vs 8). We need 3 faculty member volunteers to help select 20 students for each competition for each side of the rope, get them lined up, and one person with a whistle to determine the winner. Tug-of-war will take place on the home sidelines so that our field is not torn up!
Next, the band and cheerleaders will perform until we dismiss at 1:00Concessions will likely be sold.
School will dismiss at 1:00, parade line up is at 1:30, and the parade will start promptly at 2:00
Our Homecoming parade will be on Friday, October 2nd this year. Due to the construction of the gym, we will have to move our line up to the school dirt road/street that runs beside the little gym and circles back to the band room. There will only be enough room for one vehicle through that road, so the vehicles will have to enter from the dirt road by the band room and drive down toward the little gym to line up. The little gym area will be for EXIT only.
We will follow our normal parade route from the school, taking a right to Main St, turning left on Main, then right at the BP, looping behind Covington Electric to the left, then making a left block to get back on Main St, and circling back through town and finally turning right on N Ripley St and ending the parade at the Log House Museum. Teachers are asked to attend the parade and monitor student behavior accordingly.
Float requirements, grades 6-12:
8 students max per float
1 float per grade
Permission forms turned in to grade sponsor prior to parade
Sponsor must approve the idea/theme of the float
Must go along with the theme: Wreck the Raiders
Students are responsible for the decorating, housing, and transportation of the float
Floats will be judged during the parade and winners announced at pre-game
Alumni Gathering
5:00-6:00 pm in the FACS building. SHS alumni are encouraged to attend, sign in, enjoy refreshments, and share memories with other alumni. *We will send out a refreshment sign-up sheet, if everyone could bring a small finger food/punch/chips/fruit/dessert, etc.
Pre-game Activities

6:25 Winners of floats and doors announced; Homecoming Court formally introduced; King and Queen announced/crowned
The Homecoming dance will be held in the SHS lunchroom because of gym reconstruction. It's scheduled for apx 9:00/9:30-11:30pm. Grades 6-12 may attend, provided they are not in alternative school or suspended. Dress code for the dance is as follows: boys- khaki pants or dress slacks, button up shirt with tie or bow tie, and dress shoes; girls- nice dress or dress slacks and blouse with dress shoes. All students must follow dress code! Admission to the dance is $5; drinks will be sold for $1. Students from schools other than SMS or SHS are NOT permitted to attend the dance! We need 2 additional faculty volunteers to chaperon the dance. We're going to have an awesome DJ and lots of fun!
Additional info: High school students will vote on Homecoming Queen probably the week OF Homecoming. King candidates  will be collecting money as their "votes". This is an SGA fundraiser to help offset some of our cost for the week. They may collect during break, lunch, and in between classes- not during classes. They will turn this in to me daily before they leave campus.g. The King collections will take place from September 21-September 30.
King and Queen are not announced until the pre-game ceremony!
